The gentle fawn with dew shining on her nose calmly glances up from cropping the spring grass. She is one of the twins who frequented my yard in the spring, and was so accustomed to seeing people that she was very trusting and relaxed around us.
Made by hand using a fiber arts technique called needle felting, the whitetail fawn is the culmination of hours of meticulous work. Complementing the fawn, the dyed mohair curls frame her in a wreath of foliage adding an extra element of texture and depth. The white background is an artisan-made alpaca felt piece and the artwork itself consists of locally sourced wool and alpaca fiber.
